Films: Claws (1977)
Alias: None
Type: Mystical
Location: Forest
Height/Weight: That of an average grizzly.
Affiliation: Evil
Summary: Ladies and gents, a prime example of a cash-in of a cash-in. "Grizzly" may have been something, but "Claws" proves that man cannot apparently have enough films with a bear.
History: The Kustaka was a malevolent Native American spirit that had been terrorizing an Alaskan forest for years in the form of a grizzly bear. Unfortunately for it, it messed with the wrong man and family, and that man won't rest until the grizzly is dead.
Notable Kills: None.
Final Fate: The man finally gets his revenge by shooting a flare into the Kustaka's chest, causing it to erupt in flames and plummet into the water below.
Powers/Abilities: Not seen, but shapeshifting.
Weakness: Heavy artillery.
Scariness Factor: 2.5-We tried being nice, but most of the bear's screen time is filmed in the worst way (stuttering), and its death is so ridiculous.
Trivia: -Speaking of "Grizzly", this film was rereleased in 1978 as "Grizzly 2" in Canada/Mexico in a vain effort to capitalize on the film.
-The Kustaka, in Tlingit lore, is a shapeshifting spirit whose name means, "land otter man". This is because its preferred form is an anthropomorphic otter. Depending on its mood, it will either help travelers or kill them.
